Since its creation in 1832 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, Longines has played a pioneering role in numerous technological breakthroughs while displaying its elegance around the world. It has since been appointed official timekeeper for many international sports events, including many winter and summer Olympic Games. Longines has also been associated with the history of aviation and navigation. It timed, for instance, Lindbergh’s first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean and, subsequently developed the Hour Angle watch according to a design drawn by Lindbergh himself. All Longines watch lines offer a unique combination of precision and elegance, as stated in the company’s advertising campaign, "Elegance is an attitude".

Dolce Vita
The DolceVita collection by Swiss watchmaker Longines melds the neat, trim lines of the 1930s with the glamorous 1950s in a stylish timepiece expressing enjoyment of life in the finest Italian spirit, with its inspired refinement and unique way with style. Longines designers and watchmakers have consequently given their inspiration free rein, trading the strict rules of geometry for a superior aesthetic freedom—resulting in a delightfully inventive, unfailingly stylish collection called Longines DolceVita.

Evidenza
Who could forget the 1920s? It was a time of rapid change throughout the world, starting with important progress in many areas, as well as an incredible degree of freedom for artists, and of course stylists too. Fashion and design threw off rigid, centuries-old rules while personal accessories of every description grew increasingly handy, compact and stylish. The ladies’ and men’s watches of the new Longines evidenza collection draw their inspiration from that broad shift in habits and styles. While a 1925 model inspired the specific design of Longines evidenza, its tonneau shape goes back to a Longines model dating from 1911.

Longines - La Grande Classique

La Grande Classique
Capturing the soul and the style of Longines’ earliest design tradition, La Grande Classique de Longines watches have until today largely retained their original appearance and proportions. Changing expectations and technical advances have now prompted Longines to update their design, not least by introducing a larger case size and offering an even broader choice of subtly refined dial faces. But the slim, sleek La Grande Classique de Longines case profile remains unchanged, as does the cool elegance that gives this collection an appeal as enduring as the classic tradition itself.

Today it is young people who are influencing fashion, ideas and style more than ever. And what a style it is! The new Longines LungoMare collection is a convincing demonstration of this. With this collection the era inspires an aesthetic style which is subtly modest – a boldly contemporary style based on the solid historical heritage of a brand which has many successes under its belt. Water-resistant to 330 feet (100 meters) , the models in this new collection, perfectly represented by the young generation of rising stars who are the ambassadors of Longines’ elegance, are an invitation to enjoy moments of leisure, lazing on the elegant beaches of the Mediterranean resorts.

New York, May 20th 1927, 07:43 a.m. – The “Spirit of St. Louis” finally took off from Roosevelt Airport. Destination: Le Bourget airport near Paris. In the cockpit was a 25-year old American called Charles A. Lindbergh. Thirty-three hours and thirty-nine minutes later he landed in Paris, making aviation history with the first non-stop transatlantic flight. As the official timekeeper of the International Aviation Association, Longines duly entered his flight in the record books. Shortly afterwards, close collaboration between Longines and Lindbergh led to the Longines Hour Angle watch. Conceived and designed by Charles A. Lindbergh, it served to determine exact longitude during long-distance flights.

Spirit
Since the firm was founded in 1832, Longines has never ceased to be actively involved in all aspects of time measurement. In a marriage where reason does not exclude passion, the brand has always combined technical craftsmanship with aesthetic quality. But while one or the other has evolved over the years, Longines has always been just one step ahead, constantly occupying an avant-garde position in watchmaking design. In line with its innovative vocation, Longines is among the precursors of the manufacture of chronograph watches. The new Longines Spirit collection is based on a model dating from the 1920s which has now been endowed with the same spirit of know-how and tradition.

Clous de Paris
Elegance and tradition of watchmaking have always been closely linked with Longines. The new Longines Clous de Paris collection is a worthy heir to these values. Inspired at the same time by over 170 years of know-how brought up to date in a new movement and by a secular artistic heritage, this new collection has taken a classical and pleasing decorative form dated from the early 20th century French jewellery, which is used to decorate the case and the dial of its models. The Longines Clous de Paris collection is a subtle and refined addition, drawn from a many-sided heritage, to the brand’s top range of mechanical models.

Master Collection
With its long and distinguished traditions, Longines has from the start built its worldwide reputation on timepieces notable as much for their intrinsic quality as for the style and timing of their launch. This is certainly true today of the eight new complication designs composing The Longines Master Collection. They are reaching world markets precisely as consumers signal their clear preference for products that not offer embody genuine value but unmistakable character as well.

Heritage
More than 173 years ago, young Auguste Agassiz became the owner of a modest watch-parts workshop in the small, Swiss Jura mountain village of Saint-Imier. Today, Longines has steadfastly built its reputation on the strength of scores of horological patents and outstanding aesthetic and technical developments, dozens of design awards, over a century's close cooperation with top-level sports and can look back on the first seventeen decades of a highly successful partnership with elegance. And look forward to more, much more, of the same.

With the GrandeVitesse line, Longines has sought to give material form to the concept of speed through a series of models honouring the memory of the fastest men in history and destined for bold sportsmen of today. Fluid lines, aerodynamic curves, energy-filled typography, tachymeter and the form of the pushers are just some of the distinctive signs of this watch made for speed. It is inspired by the world of automobile and motor sports, for which Longines for years provided the timekeeping
