Our table organ clock with 17 pipes was designed to make the connection of time with music both visible and audible. This contrasts with the 18th century preference of organ clock makers to conceal the possibility of the clock to play music.
Thus this table organ clock is a unique development since such clocks, as far as we know, have not been built in this form before. On this instrument Joseph Haydn's compositions for organ clocks are particularly charming.
The solid time keeping movement is constructed with a constant force Swiss lever escapement and has a power reserve of fourteen days.
At the hour, the clock first strikes a bell and then sets the musical movement in motion. Fully wound, the music movement will play 15 times. When wound in the morning, it will play for the rest of the day. A switch lever makes it possible to silence the bell and the music when required.
Each organ clock a bespoke piece
Its elegant case is made of fine and perfectly finished cherrywood. Bevelled and engraved glass panes allow the viewer to discover each detail of the highly finished mechanical wonders within the clock. An enamel dial sits on a hand-engraved, gilded brass base and the hands are hand-sawn, polished and gilded. Each table organ clock is unique and can also be delivered with an engraved and gilded brass panel behind the pipes. Thus the individual bespoke construction of each organ clock allows the possibility of choosing various colors of the case, pipes and other combinations of decoration.
