Shinichi Hidaka Shimazu

Shinichi says “ I drew inspiration from the crest of the Shimazu clan, which once ruled my father’s hometown of Kagoshima. In Japan, there’s a culture of family crests, and each family had its own emblem.

I wanted to create a piece that incorporated that, especially since it’s the place where I was born.

The movement is the Unitas 6498, but I gave it a modern, textured finish. Another unique feature is the barrel gear retention system, which offers a winding feel unlike any other.”

Cased is a 41mm case with a slightly beige toned dial. With very limited production from this one man operation, this is the only one in the United States!
