Reinventing a classic
The TEMPOGRAPH NEO Lapis Lazuli boldly conjugates an ingenious 20-second retrograde mechanism with one of the brand's classic cases and a modern, streamlined dial.
This limited edition of 28 pieces is adorned with lapis lazuli, a sacred and mystical stone used by humans for nearly 6000 years. Its intense ultramarine blue, sprinkled with golden constellations, makes it a symbol of the cosmic universe.
Rediscovering a signature caseThe ORIGINAL case, with a 44-millimetre diameter, was the first to have been used for the 20-seconds retrograde complication and has thus become one of the great classics of the Louis Moinet brand.
It is made of stainless steel and has a sophisticated architecture with 64 components. The finishing is a delightful example of the watchmaking art, with surfaces skillfully combining brushed and polished sections that subtly bring out the various parts of the case.
Take, for example, the staggered bezel, which is firmly mounted with six screws and elegantly plays with light and shadows. Straight lines contrast expressively with the softness of the rounded flanks. The latter has been delicately brushed and reveals the prestigious signature of Louis Moinet.

With its hour dial and 20-second segment in lapis lazuli, the TEMPOGRAPH NEO Lapis Lazuli accompanies the passage of time with ultramarine blue. The dial’s careful layout highlights the natural beauty of this precious stone. As for the 20-second segment, it hovers over a layer of lapis lazuli, accentuating the uniqueness of this outstanding timepiece. The TEMPOGRAPH NEO features two distinct visual zones, a creative decision clearly dictated by the desire to exhibit a dominant visual concept. The right side of the dial is devoted to time indications, with the twenty-second retrograde hand and a sub dial for the hours and minutes. The left side offers a deep view of the mechanism needed for this horological creation. As for the 18-screw balance, its oscillations are a reminder that the timepiece operates at a rate of 480 vibrations per minute, which corresponds to 28,800 per hour.
At the centre, the retrograde hand performs a fascinating ballet, counting off a 20-second segment before returning to its initial position to begin again. This first choreography is complemented by a second, more subtle animation, located at 9 o'clock. A blue, black, and red counter marks the three twenty-second sequences that make up each minute. The whole is completed by a sub dial at four o'clock that gives the time.
